It's no secret how fangirly I've gotten about Cowboy Bebop. Specially Spike Spiegel - a big Bruce Lee fanboy. As I randomly googled Bruce Lee stuff on youtube after watching the whole series, I just kept getting this really weird deja vu feeling that I blamed on Bruce Lee being just one of those subjects you knew about thanks to popular culture. So I am bound to have heard about him before at some point.
On my last visit to video store, I picked a couple of Bruce Lee movies which made all guys on the store give me the thumbs up and telñl me how awesome they were. And then I sat down and watched Enter the Dragon thinking "I saw it on a rerun" or something when my Mom walked in, gave me a very weird look and sat down to watch the movie with me. After a while, this came up:
ME: I swear I saw this before (Bebop aside)
MOM: Yes, you did. Your dad loved these movies.
When she says this, I know she doesn't mean my Step Dad, the one who pretty much raised me and passed away a few years ago, but my Bio Dad, the one I only saw on Vacations. The one one who left when I was 3-4 years old and who died when I was 12. So I just had to ask:
ME: So I watched these movies with my dad?
MOM: You don't remember? He sat you down next to him and told you all sorts of stuff about Bruce Lee while you watched together! And afterwards, you'd tried to imitate every awesome move you saw on the movies!
After she says this, I spent pretty much the whole afternoom trying to remember any of this but I just got snipets. But I swear I could hear his laugh + some radnom bruce lee stuff.
Brain = One weird thing, huh?
