Today I had a phonecall from the BBC requesting that I come in for two, yes, not one but two interviews in two weeks time!
I applied to two seperate, but similar placements at Radio 1 and BBC Switch - Creative Traineeships to be precise. I have wanted to apply for these for some time, after working for BBC Blast in 2007, but obviously once I was successful in the SU elections last year it was put on hold.
Needless to say I am excited, nervous and happy! Considering I sent off the applications within the final hour 2/3 days after this year's elections process, it's absolutely fantastic that I came across as even remotely confident - or even competant given how late I worked on them until.
Hurrah.
It's been an amazing couple of weeks overall. Snowboarding was exhilirating (and yes I am the proud owner of some rather luscious bruises, backside an all...), then I received an acceptance email from the BBC, darted off to Leeds with Sin Radio for the SRA (Student Radio Associaton) conference (met Huw Stephens who told me to be myself at the interview!)...and here I am. Tired, but optimistic.
I suppose I better get planning :) I'm hopeful, but hey - it's all good practice, I shall get some contacts and advice at the very least...I'm thinking of spending some time abroad if I don;t get past the next stage. Time to see a bit of the world, maybe?
