a few notes on sport
I) the captain has hung up his skates. he is an icon and a champion and a hero, and while i am sad to see him go, i know it is for the best for all. so, best of luck to steve yzerman for his next challenge (most likely the wings' front office).
II) i always watch the world cup, but i really have no desire in watching soccer otherwise. i've never really sat down to figure out why, but somebody put their finger on it, and it was actually bill simmons. his columns can be kind of alternately lame and intelligent, but this one about the world cup is great.
III) i also always watch wimbledon, but i will watch tennis otherwise. kind of sad to see andre agassi go, too, but better to know when to call it quits than go on too long.
