alas, earwax

Whoa, so, my week was singularly horrible, and so was most of my friends'. How are you, nice people? Tell me something cheer-uppy!

In nicer news, I love Revenge now, apparently, does anyone watch it? No spoilers, please, I'm not yet mid-season.

Eliot! He's the only one I didn't have to think about.

1. He's attracted to women. He's attracted to most women, but especially put-together no-nonsense types who look like they won't let him accidentally hurt them. (he sometimes likes ingenues, for variety, but with them he's always extra-careful to communicate his intentions - and lack thereof) He really did date a neurosurgeon once - he loves hearing about his partners' lives after he makes sure everyone's had their pleasure.

2. He's attracted to only a specific kind of man - commanding, older gentlemen. It's a daddykink of sorts, but he doesn't really put it in those terms. (His own father was a grouchy, disappointing shut-in, and Eliot never cared for him either way.) He initially kind of has a crush on Nate - Nate's authority and quiet power - but doesn't even think of ever acting on it. The crush dissipates around the third time Nate behaves like an alcoholic fuckup.

3. If you asked him about his sexuality, he'd say he was straight more or less by reflex. He took Hardison's undercover-gay gambit in stride - he is an expert hitter - but he kind of thinks that being openly queer (well, and also being openly in love with anyone) is perfectly okay but not for guys like him.

Nepotism bonus: After General Flores had talked him down from the assassination, Eliot fell apart. The General cooped him up and took him to bed - platonically - and called him a good man. Eliot fell for him, hard, and they had a semi-sexual D/s thing going on for a while, but Eliot never intended to stay. (partly because of I'm-not-worthy reasons, partly because the general had a family, partly because of the weird internalised heterocentrism stuff mentioned above). Now, when he needs to re-focus (rarely, maybe once or twice a year), he sometimes goes to hardcore-ish fetish clubs looking for a dom - he's not really a masochist, but he craves the dynamics that go with that. He's pretty content with this being an occasional thing and doesn't want to have a longterm relationship of any kind.

oooooooh, dude, i approve hard of all of these. especially my hard-earned bonus.

(it's an interesting divide, i think, between eliot arguably being the most messed up of all of them, and the way he's effortlessly self-defined and settled. there's not a lot of surprises in store for eliot, i think).
