FIRST there is a fic you must read if any of the following sentences appeal to you: "Doctor Who / Hunger Games fusion", "epic Rose-Martha friendship action gen", "cross-District mythology being made flesh", "Panem Dalek backstory", "Amy Pond and Finnick Odair kissing for the Greater Good". It's the best crossover I've possibly ever read; it, I don'

As far as I remember, the onscreen sexual violence scenes in S1 are all constrained to Dany's storyline - and there's zillions of them - which you can easily skip. I mean, Dany is cool, but it's enough to have people summarise her story for you (I can do that!), you can watch her non-rapey Crowning End Scene of Awesome, and then watch from S2 onwards, in which there oughtn't be rape if they follow the book.
The rest of the characters TALK about rape often - there are threats and there is characters remembering having been raped, including creepy incest stuff - but it doesn't happen on screen. I might be forgetting something, but it's not really - frequent, or anything. I dimly recall that there is some dub-con stuff, like mediaeval!prostitution and kings tumbling kitchen maids, but it's not framed in a sexual-violence way - I mean, the characters involved seem to be consenting, anyway.
In conclusion, if dialogue about sexual violence upsets you too, I'd give it a miss, but if it doesn't, I think you should try? Because SO MANY WOMEN and SO DEFINITELY WORTH IT. But skip the Dany scenes altogether and tell me if you want a summary in capslock. (They're the exotic-looking savannah bits with the pretty silver-haired teenager; very easy to spot.) I'll ask some more people if they remember any other rape scenes I should warn you about.
[or, I mean, it's possible to watch Dany while skipping the rape bits, but they're both major for her storyline and they're part of the, like, scenery.]

I think the show is doable for me, if I watch it while not feeling shaky. Which sadly rules out right now, but I'll plan it in for summer. I'll come back to you for Dany summary then, if I may?

I am doing a slow, sluggish re-watch of S1 - I will proooobably be done by the summer - so if you like I can keep out for potential triggery stuff for you? I watched S1, and all the sexual violence was contained to Dany's scenes, but there it was basically non-stop. Is there anything in particular you'd like me to pay attention to for you, apart from rape scenes?
