lolol my professors are interesting.
Well I've already talked about Fasche, but now it's time for Dr. Cowan.
So we were talking about "cultural industry" and how like culture is being mass produced (or was rather, not so much now) and all that, and near the end of the discussion he brought up Harry Potter and George Lucas and how they try to take control over their work.
Like for Rowling she apparently doesn't like how the fans write the fanfiction like, and I quote, "slash fiction" and my end of the table (which was all girls) just burst out laughing cos we were like "YOU KNOW WHAT SLASH FICTION IS?! XDD"
And he was like ">_> What I know all about pop culture >O>!" and we're just like "Oh God xD"
I just thought it was funny he knew about that. Because my other English Professor, ironically my Fiction Workshop one had NO IDEA about fanfiction until the start of this semester and everyone in that class was just like "...You didn't??"
[note: This isn't to say my professor READS them. Just the fact he KNOWS that they exist and what they are amuses me.]
