MERRY CHRISTMAS and LJ vs. DW
Uh...hm. Okay well originally this was supposed to go up yesterday but since I never finished it earlier, er-
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
And now for the awkward.
On a personal level I actually don't mind the changes done. Not saying that it's perfect; there are BIG bugs that need to be fixed. And let's not even go into how it's being handled. I don't approve, let's just make that clear. But outlook wise, if hypothetically the changes were done and things were fixed, I don't think I'd mind it much. I'm also one of the few who don't mind how the new userpic browser works because most of my keywords are in lyrics and I actually remember my icons betters in the order I uploaded them |Da;;;
But I know everyone is actually considering the move to Dreamwidth now, which is really understandable. From what I've read over the past months, things have been pretty horrible service wise. So really although I'm still kind of in the middle, I side more with the angry people.
In any case, I'm not that....big? on moving. Nothing about wanting to stay on LJ or anything, it's mostly because-well I've already started using this less, I just don't see much of a point of me completely moving to DW. I almost feel like this would actually be a good excuse for me to stop LJ (on a personal level) altogether. But I doooon't know.
I do have a DW account now. Three, actually. soul_campaign has a 99.8% chance of moving, so I went ahead and made Kid's and Hiko's accounts (both the same as their LJ ones). To make it easier for contact purposes and since a few people I know have DW accounts (either from long before or now), I made the personal one. It's (no surprise here)
laenavesse. Also, I'm probably going to capitalize on everyone jumping on the DW wagon and open that MMO game over there. Plus, it kind of needs to for functionality purposes.
As for somarium, it's on a wait and see mode. If you can't tell already, I'm being very slow and NOT hasty about this. I know several other games already have their tickets and are just waiting for the signal to go, but this is a big thing. Rather than jump the gun, I want to see what happens by the end of the year. If we have to move to DW, it would be only because the site is just not practical for the game and also if a lot of RPs move over there. I don't mean like five, but I mean like 80% of the LJRP community. Because it really wouldn't make sense for us to stay behind when a lot of players will be in games that's on DW. It would make it easier for them if their games were on one site, really, and if all the players are over there...welp. For the game's viability, it needs to be where everyone else is. But otherwise, a move would be the last resort.
I don't plan on moving everything from LJ to DW...yet. Like I said before, it's kind of iffy and I don't know if there's much of a point? If a lot of people do move over there, then I will if only to keep contact with them. But I'm not going to until a bulk of my F-list does. Because like I said, personally I don't mind LJ's new look. I won't continue my own personal paid either. So...like I said it's weird. I don't update much anymore, I don't comment to anyone anymore because no one posts to begin with so it's like...what's the point of me having so many icons on my personal anymore!? Augh. Lots of memories here and a lot of things I miss to be sure.
But in the end, I'm just...waiting. Waiting for the signal for me to either close the lid or just shove all this DW stuff to the side and not worry about it. Let my own LJ account run its course. See where everyone else is going.
Truthfully it does feel pretty lonely here on LJ now since everyone's stopped posting. Everything is on Plurk which is just fine, too, but...I don't know. It makes everything seem so impersonal because it all gets cluttered with everything else. I always view Plurk as one of those "status update" type things or a place for a random conversation. Not like a blog/journal thing where you really can go in deep about stuff. That's just probably just me, though.
Anyway, tl;dr, I'm kind of ambivalent about this whole thing and while I don't want to move, I will IF everyone else does AND is active with their posting. Otherwise those RP journals will be the only things active and that DW personal journal will be...idk. Random. Muse. Listing?? /SHRUG.
