Halloween Sort-Of Colored

Oct 31, 2010 11:06

In case you desired to see my fake Englishman and his dead Scot in color, I have shoddily provided such for your pleasure:

Jamie's dead person thing is based off of the stuff in this lecture/article that says:

In Scotland, Halloween was a night of mischief and confusion. The spirits of the dead were impersonated by young men with masked, veiled or blackened faces, dressed in white or disguises of straw. The boundary between the living and the dead was obliterated together with other divisions, including the separation of the sexes, expressed by cross-gender dressing: boys dressing as girls and vice versa.

So if Jamie looks like a dead bride to you... well, it's par for the course on tumblr, AND he's historically accurate!

The Doctor's costume is borrowed from a mid-1700's Englishman's outfit in the history of fashion book that my girlfriend bought recently, so he's accurate for a well-off English dude around the same time that Jamie would have been a non-well-off Scottish dude.  Because I need some kind of research to go into even my lamest of drawings.

The remainder of the plan today is to hang out with zaftiq  and my girlfriend, possibly mutilate some gourds, draw the Eighth Doctor and Charley again, and write some Cyber-Jamie.  I hope it does not become like Vampire Edgar in that that very bland description becomes what I mostly know the story as.  I need to name this shit, stat.   (Also need to finish Vampire Edgar, fml.)
