My grandmother has decided that I am Alexia.
When my aunties show her family photos and ask who she recognises,
She recognises me right off:
"There's Lexi!"
Every time.
The only time I have been any variation of
Alex, Alexandria, Lexi, or Alexia
Was before my birth
And before the birth of my next-older first cousin
On Dad's side.
He became Alexander as was his father before him
(Who was and remains an asshole)
So Mom had to scramble for another option.
But for her mother?
I will be a Lexi all. day. long.
Just to see her smile when I enter her room.
