Mostly, I was bored with Cuckoo's Calling, though occasionally it went as far as annoyance. It was too long-winded for me and there were too many plot holes. I wrote a review on my LJ at the time. I'm super-critical of mystery books, b/c very few of them have logical plots. Most try to wow you with twists and turns that make no sense - and that, I thought, was the case with CC. I'm the kind of person who watches a movie and instead of getting into the action sequence starts saying, 'but why would he do that, when it would be so much easier to do this other thing?' Then, when the movie is over and the villain is revealed, wonders, 'but if this guy is the villain, why did he do this and that at the beginning of the movie?' And the answer is, of course, that there is no logical explanation, and the plot is full of holes, and the movie-makers are just counting on you being gobsmacked by the big reveal and no longer thinking about the logical side of things. :-)
