As is my custom, on this day I take a look at my resolutions from the previous year and kinda weigh in on what I've done.
Last year's resolutions:
1) 5 days a week minimum of good, vigorous exercise. To be recorded in a journal!
2) Admission into a graduate program that will excite me.
3) Make more of an an effort to take care of myself and Mike.
4) Get to a few dance classes!
5) Continue my food and wine education!
On 1, I lost about 30 lbs this year, no small feat. I had some periods where I really didn't hit the gym or play enough softball, but for the most part, I averaged 4-6 workouts a week. What I *didn't* do was write it down.
On 2, success! I got into and started my MPH at UMass Medical.
3) I would say I've been going down a path of taking care of myself, and I know Mike has as well. Success.
4) Not a one, fail!
5) Definitely continued my food and wine education. Success!
For the 2009 resolutions:
1) Strive to find better balance in my life--less frantic last minute papers, less swearing when I'm driving to work, less frustration about things I can't control, more intelligent handling of the things I can.
2) Really work at putting myself and my health (mental and physical) at the top of my priorities. There were days when I felt like I didn't have time to get to the gym, and that's just stupid. I can and will take the time that's necessary to get me and keep me in good shape.
3) Continue to cultivate and value the relationships that are worth cherishing.
Here's to a healthy and happy New Year!
