New Year, Old Me

To everyone on my friends' list, I hope all of you had a splendid Christmas and an even more splendid New Year. Ian, the kids, and I didn't really do much. We went to a friend's house for a game night. We have been playing a board game called Mice and Mystics which is really fun (role playing). Another great game: Pandemic! (We have yet to beat the game.)

As for the New Year, I don't really have much in the way of resolutions. Instead, I want to stay on track with what I've been working on lately and build to add more.

So, here it is:

-Weight Loss: I really feel like I have done well here. I look and feel better than I think I ever have. However, I think the few things I need to work on are making sure I (and the family too) stick to eating healthily and also fitting in exercise time (which has been sooo difficult lately).

-Family Time: This has been really up and down. Lately, my kids have been watching way more TV than I like but I've just been so exhausted to the point where I don't really want to do anything about it. Plus, I go into hibernation when the winter sets in. I hate the cold. Having new Christmas toys and activities has helped immensely in keeping the kids away from the screen but I have a feeling this is always something I'm going to struggle with as the kids grow.

-LJ time: I know. It is non-existent but I really do hope to change this. I want to resolve to try to post once a day, even if it's just a quick little blurb about life.

-Extracurriculars: Volunteering is going really well and I hope to keep this up as long as Owain is in preschool. I think this year may be the start of really looking into grad school more seriously and preparing myself for that step. I also want more time in doing research, writing, looking into publishing, etc. In order to do this, I need to be away from the kids but at the same time, I don't want to have to drive for a bit of quiet. I think the major step towards this is getting the office upstairs in working order instead of it being the junk room.

-House: I have so much here I want to do so I'm not even going to comment much here. I'll just keep on moving on....

-Finances: Closer but still no cigar...Hoping to finally get there this year but not holding my breath....

new years, resolutions
