If anyone can help me reclaim my computer from the hellish depths of "Windows Police Pro" virus bug worm thing...PLEASE!!! that would be awesome. It has totally disabled my ability to use the task manager (to end all processes and programs) and I cant even run programs (ANY), or do a windows>run> ANYTHING. Ugh...please?

after that, I see there's a couple places to go.

Do the scan first, then also check these sites

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-windows-police-pro

and/or

http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-windows-police-pro.html

After you do any changes, SCAN AGAIN.

It's alot of work but not as expensive as buying a new hard drive

Buy a new hard drive? That would be a bit overboard. At worst, you'd probably have to reformat then reinstall Windows. Pain in the arse, but better than buying a new hard drive!

That was kinda my roundabout point, as there are worm viruses which can ruin hard drives, ... even if it takes 6 hours to clean it up and scan twice, it beats any of the above - reloading windows, losing all your data AND/OR your hard drive, Namaste

Yeah, I'd follow the steps you posted :)

Then when everything is working, get some good protection going, and be careful on what websites that are browsed in future!

Yea, I hope she pops up soon and says she got it all cleared up. Went thru a Windows reinstall myself a few months back and it's not fun...

My laptop has Vista / Win 7 RC and Ubuntu. Tri-booting. One of the buggers should work if the others don't. Unless it's hardware!
