The "d" key on my stupid macbook stopped working. As a result of the teensy, tiny amount of gazpacho I spilled on it yesterday? Maybe, though there was a gap of a couple of hours and a minor crisis involving the "b" key that got resolved when I plugged it into the outlet in between, so it's kind of weird. Anyway, I popped the "d" key off to clean, which is normally fine, but this time the little hinge mechanism came apart and now I can't get it back on.
Also, the key still doesn't work. I'm typing this by using a copied "d" and hitting ctrl+v every time I need to use it. This is unsustainable, and also I'm going to have to make a trip to the Apple store, which is problematic because apparently Congress decreed they can't be put in convenient locations or something.
Anyway, this thing is four years old this fall. I don't want to have to replace it, but what is the expected lifetime on them anyway? What is the expected lifetime if you're careless and bad at taking care of your things?
Meanwhile, let's not even talk about my poor iPhone, which has a dead spot ever-so-slowly expanding to encompass the entire screen.
