Bah, humbug

I have finished the last Whedon show I had left to watch. I knew it would be hard to complete something that had grown to mean so much to me, but man... I hate The WB.

Angel was a show that got stronger as it went on and I think, without cancellation, it's 6th season could have just continued that streak. Its thoughts on being a hero, on fighting the good fight, were much more nuanced than Buffy's ever were and certainly darker than Firefly's take.

I don't know whether Angel would ever have recovered from the loss of Fred, but it seemed to be on its way. Even more so than Firefly, which had definitely reached its full stride by the end, Angel was a show that seemed destined for greater things.

I wish Dollhouse were less of a disappointment-- the true strength of Angel was in its characters, whose personalities and motivations were as familiar to the audience as sunlight. Dollhouse's weakeness is inherent in its premise-- it will never reach the lofty highs or terrifying lows of Angel.
