ZOMGA SPACED INVASION!
So the Trip to NY was pretty amazing.... see below::
We ( We being :Me, My friend Megan,my sister Anna(13), and her friend Alex(13))left from Louisville at 2:30am on the 21st and drove straight through to Jersey city arriving 3:30 PM. We were in traffic on the way there and Alex begged for us to put the top down to which we all were reluctant but did anyway. He was just so insistant .By the time we got to the Red carpet inn we were all sun burnt ..... all of us except for Alex that is. There was much grumbling. lol.
After we checked into the hotel we left... immediately. The hotel was......sticky to say the least and the air conditioning didn't work which= lame. We hopped on a bus over to Port Authority and took the subway to 13th where we proceeded to get lost trying to find the street corner. lol. We had NO sense of direction but we found the theater just in time to catch a glimpse of Si and Jess before they headed out to the end of the queue to visit all the peggsters down there. I finally got to meet Lori, Kim, and Harmony face to face, which was just as exciting as seeing the peggster himself, and then we headed into the screening . As we got to our seats I realized that I had eaten nothing but puppy chow ( Rice chex with peanut butter, chocolate, & powdered sugar for anyone who doesn't know. lol.) and immediately started to get a bit ishy feeling. Anna and I went down to the lobby to get some water (which, I now realize, that popcorn or some mother sort of food-esque thing might have been better) and there was Si, Ed, and Jess standing in the lobby. As I tried to get the cashier to break a hundred( that's all I had...lame) Anna went over to Simon and told him that she loved him. Simon ginned widely and responded with "why thank you. I love you too" there was a beat between the two where they both sort of stared at each other and then Simon says "do you... want.... a picture or-??" to which Anna answered with open arms. Simon soon realized " OH! YOU WANT A CUDDLE!!" and squeezed my sis tightly, lifting her up off the ground. It was a precious moment and I was so glad she got to experience. Anna then went over to Jess and struck up a conversation with her, for a 13 year old she is quite suave .... I think it's the adorable, blond, mini Cameron Diaz-ness of her that allows her to charm so easily. I joined the two mid-convo and we told her about our trip and got a couple of hugs which was wonderful. Jessica seemed to fall in love with Anna and so we had quite the lengthy exchange. We didn't get to see Ed that much, he was quite the social butterfly and we felt we should let him get business done. But when we did see him he was such a sweet man, Kind and smiley!! As we headed up the steps back to our seats Simon and I crossed paths and locked eyes. He seemed like he was in a bit of a hurry but, regardless, as I said his name he clutched onto my hand tightly. I struggled for a moment as to what to say and then just gave up, beaming widely and saying "Hi!". He seemed quite chuffed at that and chuckled out a "hello" before we both went our respective ways. It was a small exchange but one of the most memorable I've ever had. The screening was great and the Q&A was definitely like Heaven.It was so great to hear about the show from the creators and be around people who love the show as much as I do. It was AMAZING!
the day of the signing was pretty much the day from hell... aside from seeing the trio and all the peggster.net kids. We woke up at 10:30, checked out of the hotel, and two blocks away from the Red carpet inn, on the way to the park and ride, realized we had a flat tire. lol. We had to pull over AT A CEMETARY and call my dad back home to put money in my already no money infused bank account before calling AAA.By the time the tow truck got there we had cried twice, broken into the cemetary, found a dead fish on the sidewalk (Which was NOWHERE around any kind of water I might add), and it was 12:00. The tow guy was so nice though, he told us how to get to the PATH station and into Manhattan and also told where we could park for cheap. We found out that the tire was going to cost waaaaaaay more than we wanted it to, gave up on being financially stable, and left the car at Sears( they let us keep in there til 9 which was an up side). We got into time square and to the mega store at around 2:50 only to realize that the signing was at the OTHER mega store. lol. We freaked out for a moment, ran to the subway, and hopped the Q downtown to Union Square. we got there at about 3:30 we hopped into line, thanked the heavens for A/C and also found Kim, Lori, and Harmony!! We gave them the cliffs notes version of our day and, as we were waiting in line, Megan realized that she couldn't find her phone. I called it for her and it was answered by someone with a serious attitude problem which informed her that her phone was back at the Sears in the mall. He, reluctantly, agreed to take the phone to security and we continued waiting in the line and mooning over Si, Ed, and Jess. When we finally got up to the table the group recognized all of us from the night before!!Alex asked Simon for his bandanna, which was pretty hilarious because he gave him a look of ' Do you really?' and explained to him that a fan gave it to him as a gift. Then Megan asked Jessica what it was like to Kiss David Tennant( she is a massive Dr. Who fan) to which Edgar responded " It was great." lol. We all had a big chuckle over it.Anna got Simons pack of gum!! She only had the tiny slip of paper from the night before so he gave her his eclipse and signed it. Then Jessica got her a picture of the DVD box and the three of them signed it. It was sweet and very exciting for Anna. When I got up to Simon I was absolutely chuffed to find that he remembered me from last year at the HTLF shoot.He remembered our geek out over Star Wars and my friend Ariels R2-D2 tattoo!! I then told him about how much I loved his Star tattoos to which he responded "Why thanks! My wife has the exact same one on her bum." lol. He and I got a picture and I told him how worth it this entire experience had been. I got to tell Jess the same thing and Ed and got my DVD signed by all of them, total geek out by the way, before standing off to the side and watching them for a while. After the day we'd had all I wanted to do was look at them take it all in. As they all left we got goodbye hugs from Jessica and Simon( He said "So happy to see you again! I hope we meet again soon") and I quickly told him about how much I loved the scene where Tim Prays to the Buffy poster, I'm a massive BTVS fan as well, and he said " I meant all of it... every word" .We walked down the street to the corner and I wanted water so I stopped at the hot dog stand and found Jessica Hynes standing in front of us getting a coke. We had a 5 minute conversation about our day and how we had to go home right after that and it was one of the coolest times of my life. I'm pretty sure that I even told her that. She was very concerned about our safety and wanted to know if we were going to stop on the way back. It was adorable!! They had to get off to the airport but after they left we got to talk to Kim, Lori, and Harmony some more. It was great! My only regret is that I didn't get a picture with the group. But there will be other times.
So there it is..... we didn't get to stop on the way home and, by the time we got there we were all dead and tired and happy and filled with no food.....But we were all in Bliss.... yes..... this is all true.
