(no subject)
So I finally got around to watching the end of Doctor Who. Conclusions? I hate Daleks. No srsly GTFO! Cybermen are actually scary/creepy, but Daleks? ARGH. THE WHINY VOICES. Anyway. I had something clever to say yesterday, but naturally have now completely forgotten. Such is life.
At Job #2 today we had a pair of sketchy fridge repair guys come in and talk my poor manager's ear off and then fix the faulty wires which probably should have started a fire weeks ago but magically didn't, and blew out the compressor which covered all of our merchandise in a fine layer of icky white dust. Guess who got to dust everything? Sigh. Then we got a huge order in and I didn't feel like putting it away, so I checked my email a billion times and was generally useless. Good times and the health food store!
One of the emails was actually pretty important, though. My internship coordinator has finally started talking to us, which is lovely really (ABOUT DAMN TIME, TOO!), and I set up a meeting with her next week to discuss placements and stuff. She told me that she has a 5 week rotation set up in Moose Jaw starting September 5th. THAT'S LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AWAY. YOU MEAN THIS INTERNSHIP THING IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING?! So I spazzed a wee bit and will beg my sometimes horrible, always manipulating auntie on Sunday to not sell her house until October so I can stay there for free. Am a fabulous niece. Dad was also mentioning that he has millions of relatives, "relatives" and potentially obnoxious other relations that I could stay with. Sounds lovely, thanks, but I don't think any of them will want me for 5 weeks. Oh man. 5 weeks in Moose Jaw. Whatever will I do? It also means I'll have to quit Job #2 earlier than initially planned, though that's probably for the best anyway.
OMG. THIS THING IS REALLY HAPPENING. It's kind of scaring me a bit, but it's also exciting! I'll be a real dietitian soon! It sounds so much more impressive than 'nutrition student'. It's annoying though because 'pharmacy student' and 'med student' automatically get you respect and awe from whoever you're talking to, but no one knows what a nutrition student does so it gets you nada. Sigh. Will have to become most brilliantest dietitian ever and make everyone feel the power of the nutrition students. Or something. I almost broke into a Galadriel-type freakout there, probably for the best I didn't. Haha...
Speaking of that crazy ass elf queen, Mellie Lou and I have been, shall we say, hyper obsessed with LotR the last few weeks. Hee. We watched all of them a couple of weeks ago (actually, we watched Fellowship and Two Towers twice, but shh, no one needs to know that) and I've been rewatching the billions of special features on the extended editions lately. So now my head is swimming with useless facts! Did you know that Peter Jackson plays the gong in one scene in Two Towers? Or that the Rohan theme is played on a Norwegian fiddle called a Hardanger? Or that the Isengard theme is set on a 5/4 beat to make it sound off-kilter and creepy? Or that the Weta miniatures unit shot over 1,000 days for all three movies? Or that there was a giant bitchfight between the digital animators and the stop animators over who got to do Gollum, and Peter Jackson made them both do it? Awesometown! I enjoy filling my head with useless facts. Hee :D
Erm. Anyway. You like it when I update, yes? Tomorrow is Firefly Friday with the lovely Alice, so I is muchly excited. And I bought a vegetable lasagne for Mellie Lou and I to devour tomorrow, yay. Good times!
