HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY, DARLING TEDDY SHERINGHAM! MAY YOU PLAY ON FOR ANOTHER DECADE AND BE JUST AS HOT ALWAYS!

Man. After this Week o'Hell, I just couldn't bring myself to do anything constructive yesterday. I slept solidly until noon, not even waking up once. That's pretty impressive for me; usually I sleep until about ten and then laze about in bed until eleven-thirty or so. And only the dulcet sounds of techno Beatles mixed with Vader's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" roused me from my very enjoyable slumber. And then I had it stuck in my head all day. Curse you, melanittt!

Anyway. I was bumming around on the computer when dad comes up to me and says there's a birthday party for my sort-of cousin (daughter of dad's cousin, so that makes her my... second cousin? something like that) that night, wouldn't I like to go and get her a present? Keep in mind I've met this girl maybe twice, can't remember how old she is and really don't want to go in the first place. But I'd put a pair of shoes on hold at work last night (last shift until May! whee! I wish it was a more enjoyable reason than exams, but I'll take whatever I can get), so I hurriedly clothed myself and dashed out to the bus.

And then I bought too much.

In order of purchase:
- Coldplay - Parachutes
- Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams
- two 10$ HMV gift cards (for the same cousin and sibling for looking after our cats while we were in England)
- a Sudoku game for marrasia for getting the most kickass summer job ever
- a candle painting kit for the birthday girl (it actually looked pretty cool, despite the terrifyingly hot pink box)
- six pairs of awesome-like-whoa underwear for fifty percent off the clearance price (one of them has a couple decked out in all pink [the guy is wearing more pink than the girl] on the back, grinning like crazy ["we're dating! and we're on your underwear!"]; another one has a creepily grinning bear's face on the back that made marrasia shriek in terror, muahaha)
- the shoes, a pair of adorable pale purple flats (five dollars!)
- a lovely pale brown camisole, also cheap cheap cheap! am such a Mennonite (well, half, and the other half is Scottish ;)
- a fuzzy, v-necked blue sweater for fifteen dollars (originally forty, yay!)
- a pretty, shiny white deep v-necked (riding the cleave!) shirt, potentially to wear to melanittt's grad

Overall, I rock. And am still not poor! Yay! I also got an appointment for a haircut from my lovely friend Victoria for next week. My hair shall actually be curly again instead of flat on top and frizzy at the bottom! Double yay!

The birthday party sucked. I like dad's family all right, but I don't particularly like spending time with them. His cousins are really loud and really obnoxious, despite being very nice people, and their idea of a good time is to loudly berate each other about everything and then laugh hysterically. Not so much fun for the rest of the people around them. And I think the poor birthday girl felt really awkward when Mel and I showed up, since she doesn't know us at all. She went around hugging everyone after she opened presents and I told her she didn't have to hug me, which I think embarrassed her. Le sigh. Mel and I only went for 'political' reasons (to keep contact with the family in case of emergency next year when the parents aren't here), and I felt bad it was her birthday and not some other family thing. Oh well.

Now, to study. Have Micronutrients midterm tomorrow which shall do splendidly on. Then will write stupid Micronutrients assignment pointing out my deficiencies (folate, vit E and vit D, if I recall correctly) and high levels (sodium. yargh) and what I plan to do about them. And once that's done, I get to start cramming Biochem into my poor, tired brain. I do hate finals. But at least this wretched year will be over and I shall have a fantabulous summer.

Toodles!
