Well, it seems things fall apart while I'm gone. I know it's not related to me, it just sounds funny.
Thursday was when Mr. S posted the cast list. It seems one of the girls got particularly upset with the casting (she was cast in the non-speaking role of Miss Logan, a secretary that George Kaufman wrote in the script as 'a weirdie', which means she could steal the show) and accused Mr. S of being a backstabber and two-faced and implying that she was an 'extra'. Then she walked out before he could explain that he intended her a challenge to do something else besides monologues.
Anyway, she walked out in the middle of the reading.
The sucky part is that her parents have big pull with the college because her father was a head of a department before he retired. We don't know what's going to happen, especially since K (assistant director) found out that the girl's parents are mad about her not getting a better part. Sheesh.
Grow up, kids, college isn't thirteenth grade!
THEN our Narrator decides that she will fill in as the silent secretary, even though she has to narrate between scenes and the secretary shows up two seconds after the Narrator is finished speaking. And HER idea of a Narrator costume is a fairy godmother ensemble that sounds brilliant, and would be impossible to change out of in less than two seconds. So, I'm the one who will have to explain the time-space continuum to our Narrator in relation to costuming for those two roles.
Gotta love theatre drama. ^_^
The good news is that the guy who didn't show up at the audition got booted and we managed to find someone more reliable to play Metcalfe. At least that's covered.
Mr. S wants me to do the last joke of the play, in which a little old lady gets up and asks a question of the main characters about the stockholders' meeting. I'm going whole-hog with it and use an anagram of my name and create a character that looks nothing like me. It'll be fun. Still, K had suggested to Mr. S that I should also do the silent secretary Miss Logan part, since I had proven my worth with physical comedy. Personally, I do hope things get straightened out with this girl, no matter what.
I have a lot to do. Work on chapter four of 'Raven House' for creative writing, work on costume sketches for the play, read chapter two for my nutrition class, experiment with the camera soon.
Oy.
Is it showtime yet?
