END OF YEAR ANALYSIS
2005
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Took a driver's course, visited my grandmother for the last time, took a Spanish class, performed Shakespeare, went to a Harry Potter convention (sorta), met the Professor, Karen, and Ming.
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
It was keeping on my diet and exercise, which I could have done better. Especially since there were times in which I didn't go to the gym for weeks. It'll be the same, plus a few extras.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My mother's dog Cissy, who gave birth to my dog Voldemort.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My grandmother Dora, who has now almost approached Sainthood in my family.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, unless you count Cass County, Missouri.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Money.
7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory?
January 13 - Voldemort was born.
April 14-16 - Performed 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
May 30 - Saw my dad's family all together for the first time in twenty years.
June 13 - My grandmother died.
July 9 - PCF Expo, visited by Rineva.
July(late)-August(early) - Driving lessons.
August - Got Dobby the cat.
October - Went to Witching Hour and met everyone.
October 31 - My Halloween Party.
December - Going to my grandmother's grave, meeting family again and talking with them.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finding my direction and deciding to go into culinary arts school.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting in practice for driving.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Plenty of colds this year, especially within the past six weeks.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
New pair of sunglasses.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My cousin Bobby, who is eight years old and positively brilliant.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
No comment.
14. Where did most of your money go?
A thousand little things again.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My husband and I going with Atana and Keys and meeting with the Professor, Karen, Ming, and others at Salem. (Plus making dinner with Mima saying 'I'd rather clean than cook!')
16. What song/album will always remind you of 2005?
Enya's "Memory of Trees"
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, definitely.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner, not as much as I'd like, but still steadily losing.
iii. richer or poorer? About the same, for myself.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Praying, driving, exercising.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Crying, waiting for the bus, being angry.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it with my husband and family, with me cooking.
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Still married - I must have.
23. How many one night stands in this last year?
I don't even have night-stands, let alone many of them. :P
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Britcoms on PBS, still.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No comment.
26. What was the best book you read?
An untitled piece of work by one of my creative writing classmates that involves police procedural and supernatural stuff.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Chopin.
28. What did you want and get?
A dresser, driving lessons, a direction for my life.
29. What did you want and not get?
Our own place, a working car, peace of mind.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Didn't go out to see any.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28. I was in drama class that night, and several of my classmates were being shocked that I was much older than them.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Money.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
'Dieter at work'. My clothes were either too tight or too loose, usually jeans and blouses.
34. What kept you sane?
My writing.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you like the most?
The Mayor of New Orleans, who cussed out the Federal Empire for dithering about while the citizens of his city died.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Anything coming out of Dub'ya's mouth - DON'T GIVE UP YOUR LIBERTIES FOR A LITTLE SAFETY! PS: Homeland Security gave a cute little name for the 'secret officers' dealing with keeping tabs on people ... VIPERs. Lovely, just like 'Gestapo'.
37. Who did you miss?
My grandmother.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Karen, who is sane and more grounded in reality, thereby making her awesome.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
For every door closed, there is an open window - make sure your eyes are open to see the window.
