I have been pretty darn productive these last few days! Pics below the cut, click to embiggen.
First off, I finished some more bun-buns for the craft bazaar. These ones are tan, and they have pom-poms for tails.
Next up, an adult Western dragon that I've been working on for about two weeks.
She's quite sturdy and fully poseable, thanks to 20-gauge wire throughout her body and wings. (In retrospect I should have used thicker wire on the wings; they were a bit floppy with only one strand.)
She's knit from soft acrylic yarn and stuffed with polyfill, as well as some pouches of polystyrene pellets in her belly. This gives her some realistic heft, as well as centering her weight so she can hold some pretty cool poses.
She measures 18" nose-to-tail, stands 5" high at the shoulder, and has an impressive 22" wingspan.
Apsu wants to know if this is his mommy. Awwwwww.
"Sleep well, little one... I will keep you safe."
STATS
Yarn: approx 250 yds of 2-ply fingering weight yarn.
Needles: US 1 for the ears and horns, US 2 for everything else.
Felt: 1 9x12 sheet was enough for the wings and belly scales.
Fabric paint: Glittering Gold (eyes), Glittering Ruby (scale accents), Iridescent White (claws)
And finally... last weekend I was at the Ohio Ren Faire, and we did a photoshoot of Rivendell and Lothlorien. It was FANTASTIC.
So now I have lovely pictures to put in my patterns. Thank you Dawn Sergent!
Know what this means?
THE RIVENDELL PATTERN IS COMPLETE!
I mean, I still have to get a credit card and a Paypal account before I can put it up for download. But HOLY CRAP you guys, I was starting to think this day would never come.
Anyway. I have another adult dragon on the needles and some critters that need seaming, so I'm gonna go ahead and sign off here. Bye for now!
P.S. Whether or not you've ever played Amnesia: the Dark Descent, I highly recommend watching mangaminx's "Let's Play" series of vids on YouTube. Terrifying and hilarious all at the same time.
