That's what weekends are for! =P
In all seriousness, summer's so much more enjoyable now that I have a job I actually like and feel valued in. It's a lot of fun (most of the time) and really interesting, plus it's ~science~ so it makes me think and my brain's not constantly going crazy trying to be used.
I'm also riding the RTA to and from work, which gives me free time to knit! It's only about 25 minutes, but that's 25 minutes of uninterrupted time. No phones ringing, no requests to get up and do things, no yelling...
Which brings me to why living at home is a mixed blessing.
Don't get me wrong, I love my family. And my stupid little doggy. (The family next door just got a rather bouncy 7-week-old boxer puppy. Blitz is afraid of it. LOL.) But there are times when I just want to be alone and do my own thing.
Especially on weekends. Weekends are my down time, when I have no obligations other than church and whatever list I make for myself. Weekends are when I don't have to be on my feet all the time, like working in a lab requires. I like to make the most of it.
Today, for example, my goals were to take the dog on a walk (check) and sew up at least two of these critters (currently doing). And I get that there's stuff that always needs to be done around the house, believe me. But for crying out loud, could someone else besides me and mum pitch in and help? I get that Dad wants his down time, so do I, but couldn't he do some of this? And E - don't get me started. I know he has summer classes, but I have problems feeling any sympathy for him when A) it's mostly his own fault and B) I seek him watching YouTube videos all the time instead of doing homework.
Resentful? Me? Why would you say that? =P
Ugh. I wish I could keep the ChemStation job part-time through the year, but I don't know if they'd have me. And I'd really need my own car, which isn't going to happen in the forseeable future, but I could really use some consistent income.
Maybe this cottage-industry knitting will really take off. I'd like that. Even if it's just critters and poseable animals. Those are going to be the priority before doll clothes.
Speaking of which, I'm thinking of offering two sizes of the wired dragons: large/adult (about the size of the blue derpasaurus, with large felt wings) and small/adolescent (5-6" long-ish, with small felt or knit wings). And the wings might end up being knit instead of felt, if I can't find the appropriate colors. Thoughts?
As far as the derpasaurus goes, the basic dino is plain, one color with embroidered eyes, for $40. If you want a patterned hide, more embroidery, spikes or other things, the price goes up. =) (Yes I am totally calling that species "Derpasaurus".)
Um, I think that's it. I'm going to go sew up these kitties now.
