We're all mad here

This one happened via FB chat.

Me:  So I've been sketching my little elf girl recently, trying to get a feel for clothing and personality, and I think I have a name for her.
Will:  What are you thinking?  ^_^
Me:  Mairenn.  It's Gaelic.  Means "star of the sea".  Isn't that the prettiest name?
Will:  It is pretty.  It makes me think she should have a sailor outfit, based on the name.  And then my brain goes "sailor outfit... Sailor Moon?"  WHYYYYYYYYYYY
Me:  hahahaha
        DON'T TEMPT ME
        I WILL DO IT
        ...Wait...
        Sailor Lothlorien.
What the heck is wrong with my brain.
Will: ... *beats head against desk repeatedly*
Me: THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT.
Will: I am going to go look at grass.  And get food.

So yeah.  I've had my little ball-jointed doll plotting on the brain a lot recently, to the point of casting on a wee cardigan with laceweight and US 3/0 / 1.5 mm needles.  (I want to order some of the crazy small needles from Lacis or Hiya Hiya, but I'm holding off for now.)  At some point I'll upload the sketches mentioned above.  I've been bouncing back and forth between highly Elven costuming (very elaborate, with poofy gauzy sleeves and tiny chain jewelry) and highly urban costuming with jeans and mittens.  Ah, the dichotomy that is my brain.  I have her measurements corroborated from various sites (Den of Angels, Denver Doll Emporium), which is why I feel comfortable making some clothing for her.  The cardi is meant to be rather loose and lacy, with big poofy sleeves.  (I seem to have a thing for impractical sleeves.  I'm sure there's some Freudian reason lurking in there, but I'm too tired to search it out.)

Also, I'm thinking of getting a Bobobie Mei instead of Sprite.  (Pictures of both here.  Warning: mildly NSFW due to nekkid dollies.)  She's only slightly more expensive, and I like the face sculpt just a little better.  Sprite just seems a little bit too pouty.  Mei has more of a subtle smile on her face, which I like, and her eyes aren't quite as 0.0 as the Sprite's.

In other news, I've been feeling sick lately.  Not horrible sick, just a sore throat, stuffy nose, and general all-over sicky-achey feeling.  My joints in particular are complaining, and yesterday I had searing neck/shoulder pain that made it impossible for me to turn my head left.  Makes for me not being very productive.  However, I've gotten both of Temeraire's wings knit up and am in the process of wiring them with pipe cleaners (which is a fiddly PITA).  After that they just need some embellishment with fabric paint (blue speckles) and sewn on.  I've also been working on my convertible mitten-gloves.  I'm almost done with the glove portion of the second one; it just needs a thumb and the mitten shell.  So that's two of my goals that I *should*  (knock on wood) be able to get done this month.  The commission socks should go fast once I get to them; I'm past the heel gusset and into the foot on the first, and they're just straight stockinette.

(I, er, may have also dug Molly's Lothlorien sweater out of hibernation.  I have no excuses, other than I wanted something small and fiddly to work on.)

As far as school goes, it's going to be a good quarter.  A&P should be an easy A, as should Statistics.  Physics isn't so bad once I actually sit down and think about it; it's all optics and such, which I like more than electrical crap.  Dynamics might be the only problem class; but even that won't be too bad, because one of Dad's coworkers got his hands on the solutions manual for our homework.  As long as I stay on top of things, this shouldn't be a problem.

This is what the rest of my week looks like.  (I am putting this in public in hopes of motivating myself.  Feel free to mock me if I forget something later on this week.)

Monday:  No school!  Finish physics lab & dynamics homework.  Help mom take stuff down around the house.  Finish wiring Tem's wings.  Create tutorial for fringing promised to prayer shawl group.
Tuesday:  No school!  (Okay, there is, but my only class - physics lab - is cancelled due to no Monday classes.)  Work on scholarships.  Start and possibly complete physics homework.  Turn in lab if it's due (need to check on that).  Decorate and possibly sew on Tem's wings.  Work on mitten-gloves.  Group lunch with Will and others.
Wednesday:  Heavy class day.  My goal for this day is to survive without going insane or smacking someone, and to do the last of my physics homework.  Also to finish the mitten-gloves.
Thursday:  Counseling session.  Lunch with Mum & Mama afterwards.  Physics recitation.  Homework has to be done.  Work on & complete first commission sock, start second.  Also start on second Shuriken sock (since the needles will be free from the mitten-gloves) if time.  Other free time with internet access is also for scholarships and job stuff; however, it's always a crapshoot as to if the internet will work or not.
Friday: Statistics is my only class.  Work on commission sock, Shuriken sock.  Afternoon/evening is hang out with Will, painting, knitting, and watching Dr. Who or other stuff.  (Note to self, grab National Treasure before going back tomorrow.)  Also work on scholarship crap as time permits.  Not stressing about that, they're not due until the end of February.

... I just looked at the clock.  It's 11:25, so I'm going to hit 'post' and go to bed.  Hope I didn't bore anyone too badly.

(Note:  Remember how I keep saying Ravelry is like Facebook for people who knit and crochet, only moreso?  Den of Angels is like Ravelry for ball-jointed doll people.  I got an invite from a gal on Ravelry a week or two ago.  That whistling sound you may have just heard was my productivity sailing right out the window.)
