Yup, it's that time again, guys. Time to round up my projects and see what I accomplished. And let me tell you, there is a LOT.
First off: the River Rapids. I finished these a while ago, actually (my project notebook says Oct. 26, HOLY COW), and I am utterly delighted with them. (As always, click to embiggen.)
I love the way they cling to my legs and feet, the charming little heel flap that reinforces right where my shoes rub... the way these ones actually fit...
The first pair ended up being too long in the foot and were gifted to my mom. We are both very pleased.

Then on Sunday I hauled off and finished Dad's Christmas gift (it took me fifteen minutes. Why the heck was I waiting?) and blocked it. No pictures, because it's a Christmas gift and I am paranoid. I will say, though, that it took only two balls of yarn instead of three, so I'm using the extra to make Chris' gift (this pleases me to a ridiculous degree).
I sat down with every intention of finishing Janette's gift, but only got done with one repeat. Sigh. The end is in sight, though - I estimate only two or three more, plus some finishing.
I haven't finished Carly's gift either, and I don't want to hear about it. I'm missing what I need for the embroidery on the one, and the other one involves pins and fabric that was not created by me. (It's an incredibly late birthday gift. She so deserves it, though.) After finals next week, I'll be moving back home, and will have a crapton of free time and materials at my disposal.
Then, after the brief meltdown on Monday (I think), I whipped right through a gift for Sami (again, no pic... all shall be revealed in the fullness of time). It took only one ball of yarn and less than twenty-four hours, and I am right pleased with it.
Finally, last night, after a brief fiasco with MATLAB (we hates it forever)... I finished the Gr*ff*nd*r scarf. Technically it was "done" then, but I believe a project isn't done until you block it, so it spent last night on the drying rack. Now?
I love it. The 1x1 rib, the selvedge stitches that hide the yarn carried up each color so I didn't have a million ends to hide (only four), the freaking invisible Russian Join I did (break in one of the balls)... The fact that it is done before finals, so shipping is not involved....
But I also love that it only took up one ball of each color, and I got the yarn on sale. That makes this a $4.50 scarf that I am selling for $15 (the person who commissioned it is equally pleased with the price), and that makes me a very happy knitter.

The downside (if there is one)? I have another two balls of each color sitting around. (I seriously overestimated yardage. Seriously.) If anyone wants a scarf for this Hogwarts house, I am more than willing to make one for the same price. Otherwise the yarn will go to the Dulaan project, which is just fine as well but I would like to make some money if I can because I am a poor college student. (I'm willing to do other houses too... but that requires purchasing other colors, so I'd prefer if you want Gryffindor. First come first serve.)
Lest ye think I forgot my sweater...
Booyah. Apologies for my crappy little camera, it looks much nicer in real life. Also, I like the belled action on this one much better than its previous incarnation. Now the question remains: once this is done, do I work on the second sleeve, or do I start on the body? I think I'll give this sleeve a wash first, to settle any gauge issues, but what then? I have about two dozen rows to decide.
More finished stuff: classes are donedonedone. All that remains now is finals (one of which is also donedonedone on Friday). I have one each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and that last one ends at 12:45. Meaning I can easily move home before dinner, assuming I'm responsible and pack up beforehand. Considering my OCD-ness when it comes to this, that shouldn't be a problem, plus I'm leaving a ton of stuff here. There's no reason to bring binders and lightbulbs and all that crap home.
tl;dr: the Gr*ff*nd*r scarf, Dad and Sami's gifts, and River Rapids socks are done. Rivendell is progressing nicely. I'm torn between continuing work on it, coming up with a pattern for the kimono thing I want to do, and working on another idea entirely. (Hint: it's along the lines of
this. While you're there, click on the header to go to the main page and look at the most recent sweater she's working on. When I grow up I want to be Julie.)
P.S. HTML is infinitely more intuitive than MATLAB. Also, I think I may have found a yarn for the kimono thing,
here. It's horrifically expensive, though, but with coupons and sales I may have some luck.
