New Year's Resolutions
1. I will take better care of myself. I won't say "exercise", because that might not happen, but I will take all my eighty billion meds and eat healthy.
2. I will not purchase yarn or needles unless it is for a specific project. If it is for a specific project, it must be a doable project that I actually have plans for, not just a half-arsed "wow, I'd like to make this someday" project.
2b. I will not buy yarn just because it is on sale. (See above.)
3. For every piece of knitting I do for myself, I must do an equal amount for other people. This can be commissions, gifts, or charity work. I will allow myself to "bank" projects. For instance, if I do a bunch of small charity items all at once, I can equate that to a larger project for myself.
The third one is mostly because I have a few things planned for myself this year, and I don't want to feel guilty about spending so much time on myself.
Currently on the needles:
Earflap cap (partially done) - commission
Snowdrop shawl (partially done) - gift
Hobswillyn socks (partially done) - myself
Planned projects:
Secret sweater project - myself
Mate to the secret sweater project - myself
Roman tank top - myself
Alex's birthday gift - gift (duh)
Carly's birthday scarf - gift (ditto)
Earflap cap - commission
A plethora of tams and hats - charity
Eh, it evens out.
Speaking of #1 - Mom gave me her old wrist-support gloves to wear when my hands start aching. They're nice and certainly help with the pain, but they hold my hands at such an odd angle that knitting is near-impossible. Writing is okay, if a bit laborious, but the metal strip actually digs into the back of my hands if I try knitting normally. Maybe I'll have to figure out another method. Hm.
The earflap cap is now starting to look like a cap and not just two triangle-ish things. I renamed the dragonscale socks "Hobswillyn" after the white dragon in Ciruelo's paintings, but I still haven't worked on them very much.
I realize I promised pictures from last night, but I accidentally abandoned the camera for a long time and didn't take very many. My bad. We had a lot of fun, though, other than the whole drool/shirt/camisole episode. *shudders* still squicked out from that.
Someone IRL asked me, so I'll explain - the tag "journal" means part or all of this entry also appears in my real journal. It's more of a clue to myself than anything else.
Aaaaaand that's it. Back to the wool~~
