Day 19: This Month
People get all cynical about resolutions these days.
I'm not cynical about my resolutions. Maybe because I pick things I really mean.
I mean, life is evolution. I'm always striving for better, no matter what month it is.
But anyway.
Rather than writing a boring explanation of what I resolve for this month, this year, I thought I'd show you, with pictures of a collage I made last week.
It started out as a project to entertain the Kinglet, who we're told needs practice with fine-motor tasks like cutting. He had no interest whatsoever, but it turned out to be extremely therapeutic for ME.
Incidentally, I resolve to do more art, too.
Well-Being Collage
for those interested, that is my messy table in the background. I spy an old copy of Women's Day (for collages), the last oranges from our holiday fruit basket (courtesy our neighbor Mrs. D.), a book on building birdhouses that the God-King bought from Amazon for wood-working projects to do with the Kinglet, my contact solution and case, a stack of Bill Cosby cds, the Kinglet's cup (sans straw, as per our new Drink It Like a Big Kid policy), a towel (for wiping up the results of the no-straw efforts) and my second cup of coffee in my Delaware mug.
Details:
"Working-Order" is the main idea. See, that's me - balancing work and child care in my super-yoga stance - in heels.
Which would imply a life of assertive control, but no. It's about finding a calm center. A life where everything has its place and losing time is not a constant stress. Nay, one might even say it's about Constant Calm.
Here's me and the God-King doing home improvement and body improvements together, with lovey smiles on our faces. :) And in the background that's me (well, symbolically) and the Kinglet reading stories together. Which we do, just. We could do more. You can never read too many stories. Just ask
my friend Richlayers
It says "where cooking is alchemy and baking is magic"
Here's me out in nature again. Hiking perhaps. Maybe just a light nature-walk. I am wearing my earth-mother hippy skirt, after all.
See how my hair blows in the wind, care free?
And here's me chatting with coffee - on the internet or in person. It's all good. See, cuz, my girlfriends keep me whole. I love you.
