Day 16: Your First Kiss
I don't know about you guys, but I have to qualify most of the "firsts" in my love life.
Technically, my first kiss was taken from me and shouldn't count.
Then there was the encounter with my first-ever boyfriend (also my second-ever - poor guy). It was a disaster, though not really his fault. I insisted on no tongue, then made fun of him for all the wetness. But what can I say - I had issues. (see technical #1) To be fair, he did perform much better later, when I allowed him use of all his mouthly parts. (for kissing! gawd. get your mind out of the gutter)
I prefer the story of the kiss that flipped the switch.
In the tenth grade, I had a hard-core crush on a boy but couldn't - wouldn't - admit it. He was a pathological flirt and I (as we've seen) had trust issues. So this thing that we had/didn't have went on for weeks... months.... until one night he followed me out of speech club when I went to get a soda.
We argued all the way to the vending machines and then all the way back about... something, I have no idea. We argued a lot. So, we're arguing... and then suddenly we're not arguing anymore.
He made the first move (he made me spill my soda), but he gave me a split-second to realize what was happening. He gave me a chance to decide: yes.
Things from there got worse - we had some bad third-party intervention, I never did trust him, and for good reason. I still get a kick-in-the-gut feeling when I think about all of that, how infatuation turned so very ugly. But at least I can credit D. with waking me to one very important realization with that first kiss:
When it's mutual, sex is awesome.
My future lovers owe that boy a thank you note.
