So what's new?
* We have high-speed internet for the first time. The cable man who installed it could not wrap his head around that. He thought we meant "we've never had high-speed at THIS address", not "we've only ever had dial-up, ever." But now we do! I can play online and talk on the phone and do a little dance of happiness at the SAME TIME. I can also play online from anywhere in the house. I am... right this moment... updating my journal while sipping coffee... AT MY KITCHEN TABLE. Holy moly.
* Good friend and mentor richlayers introduced me to Pandora.com, which is now my favorite thing to access with my high-speed internet. I find it eerie how this website can extrapolate from just a couple of artists/bands to generate all my favorite music. My only criticism is that I hear my favorite music way more than I discover new artists... but that's not really a complaint.
Want to hear what I'm hearing? Combine Ani Difranco, U2, Live, They Might be Giants, and Erykah Badu.
* I've been taking a new migraine drug for several days now. I think it may be helping, so long as I stay on it for as long as I'm awake. I woke up last night to use the bathroom and realized the pressure and numbness was there in full force - but thank goodness it's something I can sleep through.
* Have not started revision three yet. Have been preoccupied with the weirdness in my head. Also have not followed any regular physical routine and have medicated my emotions with food and have gained five pounds. Now that I know I am not facing imminent death, I hope to remedy these things soon.
Have you ever noticed that food consumed for neurotic reasons has less taste than normal food, and does not actually fill you?
* The house is as festive as it is going to get, and I think I did a good job. The presents are all bought and half are wrapped. Chex Mix is mixed and greeting cards are sent. (aellwynde I need your address.) Today I am making macaroni and cheese for the staff working-holiday party on Tuesday. I haven't made it often but I bought very expensive gourmet cheeses, so what could go wrong.
* In typical Tairn Gire fashion, I forgot that yesterday was a Sabbat but I celebrated anyway. The very pregnant pregnant_lizzie and her hubby lossoth (who is 30!!!!) visited, giving me an excuse to light up all my curios and serve dinner with real napkins. Lizzie looked so beautiful, like the Goddess Herself. I got to feel baby boy kick for the first time. Le sigh.
* I'm beginning to think that something I should have taken away from all these physical problems this year is the ability to just chill. Being so ridiculously task-oriented has helped me be Super Mom, but somehow I lost the ability to suspend time and just Be. Sometimes, you need to enjoy the moment, aye? Stop thinking ahead to what needs to get done next, stop pretending that low-impact chores are hobbies, just stop. I need to just stop a whole lot more than I am doing now.
I think sipping coffee and updating livejournal while listening to my favorite music on a new website is a good start.
