I am very excited because I received a personalized rejection letter for my children's book, "There's a Witch in My Tree". The note read (more or less):
"[Lady T.} - A very sweet story. Unfortunately, we do not know how we would market it, as the Halloween window is too short for such a small publisher." signed "The Editors"
The only thing that would make this better would if someone specific signed it.
Or, you know. An acceptance letter.
But still. The fact that they actually thought about how to market my story and took the time to tell me so is an awesome compliment.
The God-King thinks I should ask The Editors if they can recommend a publisher who might want to take advantage of the "Halloween Window", and then approach that publisher saying "The Editors" of such and such recommended I take this story to you. If I had cajones like
liz_dejesus I would totally do that.
I'm definitely going to take this as a good sign, and a reminder... I've been giving "To the Touch" all my creative time, since there's so little of it - but it won't kill me to climb out of it long enough to approach some agents about these children's stories. There's potential there.
The Editors said so!
