Copied from an anon meme a.k.a. the last place on LJ that actually lives.

I'm rewatching all of Smallville - actually I'm mainlining it as if my life depended on it - and I just googled "when does Jonathan Kent die" because I can't stand his sanctimonios shit anymore. Fortunately, as I'm at the end of season four, it'll be soon. (ETA: he finally died but he keeps coming back. WHY?!).
I'm surprised at how differently I see the show this time round. Ten years ago Chloe was my favourite character, I loved Lex, Lana and the Kents, and didn't like Lois. I shipped Lex/Chloe and Lex/Lana.
This time? The Kent family relationships seem so unhealthy (when Martha asked Jonathan for permission to work outside the farm I was this close to throwing something at the screen). I hate, hate, hate Jonathan. He and Martha are so intrusive, their style of parenting is so heavy-handed and smothering, they are so thight-knit and stuck in their small cirklejerk, just watching it makes me feel suffocated.
But! I stan for Lionel so much it scares me. I find him and his voice so unbelievably hot, and I want to ship him with everyone, especially Chloe.
Lex is fine, his voice is as fantastic as I remember, but he's too much of a woobie, and the plotlines are ridiculous.
I loathed Chloe for three seasons (though I sort-of like her now), Lana bores me to death, and I can't get enough of Lois. I might be in love with Erica Durance. I want a Lionel and Lois show.
(Huh, I just realized how much aural-oriented I am. This is why I couldn't get into Tom Hardy: why I love his looks, his voice is so not what I expected.)
I've never seen all of Smallville actually. At the beginning I relied on TV broadcasts, sporadic downloads in horrible quality and postage-stamp size (early 2000s, yay), I might have even absorbed some episodes as transcripts. Then I watched regularly for some time, then sporadically, seen some episodes only because James Marsters was in them (while in my Buffy phase), and I can't remember the point where I finally stopped watching. Might have been season six or seven? Maybe eight, but still, I've got a few seasons yet to go that are not quite new to me. I wonder how I'll feel about Ollie when he shows up, given that now I love Arrow - Stephen Amell is it for me.
