My roommate tonight is currently looking up some shit about anorexia matters. Yes, there is a small story behind her doing this (no shes not anorexic and not thinking of doing it either), but none the less, it got me thinking, that, I'd like to look up these "proanoerxia sites" just to see how bad these girls are.
I've never been more disgusted in my life.
This is giving me inspiration to start my nutrition degree in the fall, without a doubt.
Now, many of you remember when I lost my weight as a child well into my teenage hood, I did this under the supervision of my mom who said to eat the recommended amount of calories perday, this highly included other things like vegatables, fruits, but as well as fat and carbohdrates, the things you NEED to sustain energy, and fruits and vegatables were ALWAYS considered freebies.
But, I sit down to this proanorexia website, and this woman is talking about how this roast beef sandwich is 245 calories (thats actually considered a very LIGHT roast beef sandwich), and quote "is sooooo many calories." To 'balance' out her diet, not only does she cut back on the number of tomatos shes suppose to eat that day from 5 to 2, but instead of eatting all her soup, she sips it, and puts it down.
PEOPLE! THIS IS THE WRONG WAY, AND CERTAINLY THE WORST WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT! I can not stress this enough
Not only does this create terrible a malnutritioned body, but you NEED fat to survive.
On top of that, starving yourself also makes your body gain more weight, when you DO consume more then your usual daily amount. For as one girl I saw only ate 250 calories per day! I eat a bowl of cerel and 2 things of milk and *BAM* over ate.
To further this, once the achieved weight loss is created through such extreme measures, your body will be longing heavily for food. In away, it is more then likely you will lose control, and that in turn makes you gain more weight. Then if your still feeling you need to lose weight, you will take control again, lose it, and your body will be in a huge yo-yo effect that is certainly unhealthy and certainly terrible for your body.
Weight loss is fine, if it's under nursing control, or if you increase your daily activity. My theory is, that exercising is not initally to lose weight, it is to help increase your metabolism so that your body is capable of burning that which can come in. For example, if you work out 7 days a week, go a head, eat that cheese cake, and enjoy every last piece
However, you must keep in mind that when they say that a maintained diet is 2000 calories, THEY MEAN IT!
Your body also needs a certain thing called energy, and some of the safe ways to obtain this is to obviously go through carbohdrates, fats, and protein. (Jimmy don't argue with me about how thats not true for diabetics (a major exception I might add))
You should consume about:
58% carbohdrates
30% fat
12% protein
When wanting to increase energy for a weight loss plan. For, as I like to stress, without energy... How are you suppose to perform in your daily activities, let alone raise that matabolism
Also, counting your fruits and vegatables, in my opinion should never be done. In fact:
Water
Vegatables
and Fruit all of these nutritions you need to actually keep your body healthy and keep your matabolism running.
And water is so important, I cannot not stress this enough as well.
Anyway, I have to end this, I could actually pull out my thoughts on this even more, but I put this warning out now.
Any one of you want to go on a proanoerxia site or decide to become bulimic, I will hunt you down like the friend I am and slap you upside the head so hard, and I'll keep doing it until you eat.
I am so sick right now, this has just made me sick, reading all these journals about how they encourage you to do this. Seriously, I think I had a tear in my eye. These girls, if they dont change their diets, are doing some of the worsts things you can do to your body... I'm just too disgusted to write anymore.
