So my avatar picture is going to change for as long as this tournament lasts. Because, you know, even though I have sometimes heard arguments about the superiority of the Olympic Games over this particular happening, I await it with more hope and happiness than the Olympics. In fact, I get more enthused over the Euro rather than the World Cup. Why? I'm not sure why; it's just that, for me, Europe has always seemed the capital of football. I know we have the flaming passion of the Argentinians, who go literally crazy over their club; or the jogo bonito of Brazil. Even the fans here in Mexico enjoy a game and celebrate as much as they can. But, even then, I sometimes think Brazil is overrated and that Argentinians, in their passion, forget one of the beauties of the game: that even war stops to witness a battle where true heroes fight for glory and not for land or for power. The modern epic. And, for some reason, it's shown better in Europe. I don't know if the flaming South American temper is an obstacle (though Uruguay plays in a very European way) but Europeans show courage, yet strategy and dominion. Or that's how I see it.
And yes, I know that money sometimes stains football, but, mostly, a tournament like this is one of the greatest joys to watch.
So...
HUP HUP HOLLAND!!!
