Getting There Is Half the Battle

Apologies for my extended absence; umbran and I just spent the past week on a Caribbean cruise. Oh, man, I read about this. JetBlue's logistics people basically ran face-first into a screen door, trying to cope with the effects of the weather on top of new FAA regs regarding crew working hours that took effect January 1, and they totally screwed it up. Eventually they had to just sort of throw up their hands and shut their entire operation down for something like 17 hours to let everything reset. Utter chaos, as you might imagine, ensued throughout the system.

To be fair to them, though, it's not as if they knew the new crew time regulations were coming on 1/1/2014 as far back as 2011.

Wait, no, it is as if that.

(slow. sarcastic. applause.)

I remember reading about it and thinking, I bet someone I know is going to get sucked into that vortex, but I was thinking of zonereyrie, who is virtually always to be found jetting off to Disney World at around this time of year.

On the plus side, though, it's good to see that the Disney machine is still working well. I was impressed by the methodical-yet-adaptable nature of their operations people when I was there for Zoner's wedding a couple years ago. I'm not really in what you would call the target demographic for their product, but I like the way the operation is run.
