Day 2

Jul 13, 2009 07:50

We went to the tubes for the first time!  Woot.  It was crazy and busy.  And people everywhere.  They aren't kidding when they say their packed.  We took the tubes to the school and were led by Pippa and Hazel.  At the school, which btw, I walked past it cuz I didn't even know it was a school, Maria gave us a little introduction to England and told us not to give someone the backwards peace sign as that is flicking them off.  So lots of useful information!

Then we had half an hour and about 4 girls and I got food at this place called EAT soooo cute!  I got a meat pie and they put it in a little box and we took our food to a nearby park and sat and ate.  Pigeons everywhere!  They swooped down a couple times close to our heads.  After we met back with the main group and Maria took us around town (we walked for probably a good 3 or 4 hours).  We saw Trafalger Square, The Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the place where all the movie premiers happen, the world's biggest toy store, and lots of other things.  Lots of walking, ayup.

And we had dinner at this Spanish restaurant and I got this awesome drink that was like a spiked lemonade but it was clear and didn't taste like alcohol at all!  So glad I'm really stingy with my money cuz I would have gotten about 3 more of those babies.  The food was okay, I got a menu for the people at work!

And then we went to a pub to meet all the other westminster students.  Yeah....no.  We didn't really mingle, I had no idea who was a student or who was a patron at the pub.  The only nice thing was we got one free drink and I got a gin blush which was good.  So some girls and I left early around 7:45 and we took the tube home!  And we did it all by ourselves!  Well, I just followed them and had no idea where I was.  I don't think the tubes are meant for me.

Came back "home" and then I tried taking a shower and it was horrid becasue it's one tiny little stall and no shelves to place my stuff and only one measly bathtowel and it was uncomfortable knowing that a whole bunch of others have been in that same stall.  Ew.  And there was a puddle of water when I got into the room and I can see why.  It's very cramp.  So maybe I'll try the bath next time.....

Today's plan is try to get to school by 9:30, have an orientation, then class until about 4:00 then try to get to Hyde Park so we can have a teatime and stuff and then go to Harrod's which is a huge department store and fancy fancy for tea or something.  It'll be interesting, I think.
