My brain

Sometimes I get obsessed with the stupidest fic details.

So today, while writing a line (a single line) in a fic, I suddenly wondered just how big the two big galaxies in the local group should actually look from the Pegasus Galaxy, since it's widely agreed that the Pegaus Galaxy in SGA has to be the Pegasus Dwarf Irregular.

My process:

1. Writing along, wait, where is Pegasus in the local group anyway? How big should other galaxies actually look?
2. Find map of local group.
3. Wow, Pegasus looks awfully close to Andromeda.
4. Fruitlessly google how big Andromeda would look from Pegasus Irregular, because it doesn't hurt to try.
5. Google distance between Andromeda and Pegasus Irregular. Find Yahoo Answer full of calculus. Google more, find some guy saying about 500,000 light years. Decide this is a better answer than calculus, because it's not like I'm going to be graded.
5. Doublecheck previously held knowledge that Andromeda is roughly the same size as the Milky Way.
6. Get distracted by pretty pictures of Andromeda/Milky Way collision. (Pretty!)
7. Google how big the Milky Way would look from our satellite galaxies.
7a. Find the wiki page for the Large Magellanic Cloud, which tells me both that it is about 163,000 light years away, and that if I was standing there, the Milky Way would be the size of 70 full moons in the sky.
8. Conclude that Andromeda would look really fucking big from Pegasus.
9. Finally think to google for pictures of Atlantis at night. Do not find any that include stars anyway, but do find horrifying picture of guy in Wraith make-up. Gah!

Time spent: over an hour.

And this is why I never finish anything. Also, why apparently I should not write lines that include John looking up.
