I got an email last week from the university where I am still a student -- not the one which employs me -- about how I had to complete an online training before the start of December. The email (slightly redacted) went like this:

Wow, that sounds like some awful attempt at box-checking computer based annual training, there. I'm sorry that your school didn't feel the need to at least provide more relevant training, if they were going to force you to do it, anyways. I just recently left the military, so coming from the perspective of someone who's had to undergo at least once-a-quarter Sexual Assault Prevention and Response training, and sometimes more frequently, depending on the environment, I can say without any hesitation that the relevancy and sincerity of the training absolutely needs to be the priority in the design of the training, otherwise it's a waste of everyone's time and could possibly do more to numb the general population to the dangers of sexual harassment and assault than it actually does to help prevent these actions and to take care of the victims ( ... )

This training deals overwhelmingly with what to do once the damage has been done. It doesn't talk about how to stop that damage in the first place. It's damage control. It is the bare minimum effort, imposed on a population large enough that the effort looks impressive."

I . . . am highly inclined to agree with you, from your description.

And I seriously wish that somebody would pay you to design a better program -- because I agree with all your points here.
