How is it June already???

So, I seem to still be unable to post entries with any sort of regularity. Apologies for that, if anyone was sitting around waiting for me to write something worth reading. I need to get better about it, this summer looks like it's going to be one long adventure.

I don't know if anyone really noticed, but my 20th birthday was May 26th. It was a good day, of course. :) My mom and I went to Lubbock for the morning for a bit of relaxing girl time and shopping. When we got home, there were balloons everywhere and I was presented with what has to be the most wonderful birthday "cake" my family has ever made.

In other news, my mom leaves on her mission trip to Liberia next week. I'm not looking forward to seeing her go, but I know that there's a purpose to her going. It's a medical mission, which means she'll be working with a lot of the local people... but I'm pretty sure that part of the reason that she needs to be there is going to be to take care of the rest of her group. She's the only nurse in a class full of clergy people who are going to be in Liberia for two weeks. From what I understand, she's likely going to get two meals a day of rice... that is, IF they can find rice to feed them. Strangely enough, though, even with all that I've heard of the conditions and the bugs and such, I wish I could go with her.

I am helping a little with her travel funds, though! I've made a special bracelet design, on sale through my etsy store ( http://www.etsy.com/listing/75154616/tricolor-africa-mission-trip-fundraiser ) to help raise money for her trip.

I, of course, have my own adventure planned for this summer. I'm exactly ten days too old to go on tour with the Spirit Wind choir, which is horribly sad... but as I said, another adventure awaits me. I'll be flying out to Tennessee on the 20th, to stay with my mom's side of the family for a while. I have two adorable (2nd) cousins to play with, and my Nana is an amazingly talented craftswoman and seamstress! I don't know how long I'll be staying, but I'm looking forward to it a lot. Especially because the part of Tennessee where they live is the wonderful part with lots of water and trees and artisans... and mountains! In other words, as far as one can get from flat, dry, farmland. I know it's going to be fun!

Before that adventure, however, I get to go to McMurry University's first session of SOAR, their orientation program for freshmen. Of which I shall be one! I've been accepted to their honors program and everything, complete with scholarships that cover about half of my tuition. I'm excited for fall and getting to start my studies there!

All in all, it looks like it shall be a wonderful, blessed year.
