Ugh.
Life is just zipping by lately. I mean, the days sometimes drag on forever, but the weeks just ... POOF and they are gone. I can't believe it's been nearly a month since I updated LJ. Sad.
Things are slowly improving here. A little more communication, a little more understanding, and a little more straightforwardness (Is that a word?).... we're going to get through this. It does not change the fact that we want to live in our own house as soon as humanely possible. Unfortunately, more medical bills keep coming. I honestly think Caroline will be over a year old before they are paid off entirely. I'm still waiting on at least 4 bills to fully process through insurance so that I can find out how much I actually owe. And I'm still paying the stupid hospital. Feels like it's never going to end, but I know it will.
Here's the latest with Soren:
*Attitude increases with age. Soren is wonderful about 75% of the time and the other 25% is laced with sarcasm, attitude, debates, contradictions, and stupidity. Gotta love the tween years.
*Piano lessons are on hold while his teacher is on bed rest (her baby isn't due until August, poor thing). We are hoping her restrictions are lifted soon and that he can take lessons through the summer, but we aren't holding our breath. We may have to find a teacher for the interim. In the meantime, it's been nice to have one less thing to run around doing.
*Soccer is almost over for the spring - one more practice, one more game. It wasn't as great of a season as we'd all been hoping, especially since Soren was pulled from Keeper mid-season for reasons that are not entirely his fault. We will be looking for another league, another coach, and another experience in the fall.
*School is going ok. He just finished up the standardized testing for the state of Washington and is relieved to have that over. We've had some interesting discussions, both together and with his teacher, due to a unit on health - healthy eating, exercise, etc - because I have some pretty strong feelings on the subject. We'll all be glad when the school year is over. Although then I will have a baby in MIDDLE SCHOOL, which is just wrong.
*Soren really is a good kid. I have to keep reminding myself of that on the days that are less than stellar. I sure love him.
And on the Caroline front:
*She's officially 5 months old and right around the corner from the 6 month mark. How did that happen?
*Finally catching up with her age group, Caroline is weighing in at almost 14lbs.
*Wow with the moody girl. When she is mad, she lets the entire neighborhood know. When she is happy, she squeaks in a crazy high soprano. This girl is going to test me for the rest of her life...
*Sleeping is hit and miss. Out of the past 7 nights, 3 we have spent awake and screaming. Last night being one of them. We're working on figuring out the problem.
*She's got her first cold bug right now. We're heading to the doctor in about 45 min.
*This girl is super tickelish! And she doesn't really like to be tickled, either. It's pretty funny to watch her face go from a smile to a frown to a smile again.
*Eating continues to be a challenge. Some days we are lucky to get 20oz of formula (she should be getting over 30oz/day for her weight) into her mouth.
*Cereal has been introduced and she is finally getting the hang of it. I tried an avocado the other day, but didn't smoosh it up enough and she tried to choke on it. I'll be using the food processor next time.
*We love her and are so happy to have her in our lives - even if she is an opinionated, noisey, crabby, little cutie pie.
I'm finding it hard to have a life outside of the kiddos right now. It's very difficult for me to spend much time away from Caroline mainly because she is so picky about everything and so I'm pretty much the only one who knows all of her idiosyncracies. It's hard to leave her knowing she could spend 3 hours screaming at someone. But I'm working on it. Slowly but surely.
Ok, that's it from me. I've got to get ready to head to the doctor. Hope everyone is doing well.
