I heart Sky. Last night, I had just gotten back from a hotel and was channel surfing and guess what was on? None other but Sports Night! So I got to watch it again. Haven't seen that in such a long time. And I really miss Sorkin-dialogue, how it takes about three minutes for someone to make a point, because of the banter. Ahhhh. Bliss. Too bad the episodes are so short.
Apparently I'm picking up the accent. This taxi driver came to pick me up:
DRIVER: Are you Sarah?
ME: Yes, I am.
And then I said something else and he looked at me and said, 'You're American? When you first said something I thought you were from Derry!' Heehee. I'm kind of honored.
Oh, and last night we definitely did our Irish dancing and played the tin whistle for the mayor. I think my tin whistle instructor played his behind me because I'm really, really, bad. I'm okay at dancing, but can't play the tin whistle to save my life. Oh, well. It was good craic*, anyway.
*Lingo lesson-- craic is pronounced 'crack', and evidently it's Irish for 'a good time' or 'lots of fun'. Actually, it seems to have several different meanings. You might say, 'What's the craic?' as in, 'What's the gossip? Or something like that. I was just glad they bothered to explain that to us before we left, because when I first heard it here I was sitting behind the class during religion and the teacher said, 'Jesus probably went out with his friends for some craic'. You can imagine my shock. ;)
