Okay, now that I've gotten your attention... ;)
Allow me to explain why my parents are the coolest people in the world.
I don't know how many of you remember my entry where I said the parents were taking me and my sister somewhere mysterious January 4. Well, we went. We headed towards the art museum. Okay, I was intrigued, but a little let down by the fact that we were going to the art institute, especially since I was 98 percent positive we were going to the theater.
And then my dad turned left.
We went to this tiny playhouse that was doing The Complete History of America (abridged). I don't know if any of you have heard of them, but they are the Reduced Shakespeare Company. They started out many years ago, doing all of Will Shakespeare's works (abridged, of course). Well, our family saw them five years ago in London. My dad got their dvd for Christmas. Since then, they've done other things, such as English literature and the Bible. But we decided on the history of America, which was worth it.
So, this is where The West Wing came into play. One of the three guys (who's on the DVD we got for Christmas) guest starred in the episode He Shall, From Time to Time. He's one of the Republicans who tries to convince Toby to put in the phrase, "The era of big government is over." Yeah. Cool, huh? Well, anyway, I ended up getting water sprayed on me by him, since the people who were sitting next to me ended up coming late. He came over with a thing of water and sprayed it on them, getting me all wet, too. Heehee.
Then, they came out for autographs.
FIRST GUY: What's your name?
ME: (perkily) I'm Sarah!
FIRST GUY: Imsarah? Is that Polish?
So now I have a program (signed by the three actors) with the heading "I'm Sarah" on it. LOL. So yeah. I had a very brief conversation with WestWing!dude and he shook my hand. Heee.
In case you want a real review, if they ever come to a theater near you, go for it. The Shakespeare one was funnier, IMHO, but The history of America wasn't too shabby, either. The parts that got me laughing the hardest was the slideshow of the American civil war and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
So, anyway, a good time was had by all. And I got to geek out, since I just took American Political Thought.
