Has anyone noticed gas prices lately?
Within the last two months, it reached a high of $2.99 here in Oklahoma (much higher in other places, of course).
But suddenly, slowly, the prices are creeping down, despite the continued "war on terror", despite the situation with the BP pipeline in Alaska, despite Exxon, Mobil, Conoco Philips, etc recording record high profits.
This morning, I saw gas for $2.29. But I don't stop and say "wow, that's great." Because it isn't. Because even at that level, the rich are getting richer and the rest of us, without any means of transportation besides our cars, are stuck paying whatever it is they demand of us.
But it's going down. Why?
Because there's an election coming up in less than two months.
Beware of the lying politicians who will try to gaslight you into believing that it is this administration that is doing something to lower gas prices. Beware any lying scallawags who will try, at this late date, to tell you that you are "better off" and that you are "safer" now than you were five years ago.
Because it just isn't true. Watch the gas prices. Listen to the pundits. But come to your own conclusions. They will try to convince you of anything to remain in power. But their interests are not your interests. They will try to convince you that they have your best interests in mind. But they don't.
Because the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle- and working-classes get slammed in the middle with little to no hope of making things better.
Don't be fooled by a drop in gas prices.
