About art theft

Just recently I found out that my copyright of one of my works had been violated by someone who found my pic at DA and downloaded it to display it without my permission in his/her Photobucket album without any hint to the origin of the photo save the file name. No idea if this person did anything else with my work but so far I know that art of lots of other deviants had been displayed in that album too without any credit.

Luckily, the Photobucket Copyright agent reacted shortly after I sent an email about the issue and my work was deleted there.

Now I am wondering if I should think about more ways to protect my work. This is a fairly new situation for me since I am not so very popular at Deviantart - and so far haven't needed to think about people wanting to steal my work.

Watermarks are not an option I want to choose right now. I don't like them very much and I wouldn't want to impose them to the onlookers of my gallery.

I think I will disable downloads for now and maybe I'll add Copyright warnings in the descriptions of my most popular pics too.

This situation is just annyoing as hell.
