Maybe some of you someday would be so curious or just came across the video by chance (its already on youtube). And before it confuses you or worst yet, you bashed the performance, hear me out. Because like many of you (the non kame/kat-tun fans), when I first saw his solo performance in Break the Records (fancam), or the papparazi pics, I honestly didn't like it. Stereotype me as much as you like but, although I understand that he's being erotic on purpose is part of his trademark as kat-tun member, is not why I adore the guy down to his lame sense of humour or bad drawings. So to say that his eroero wasn't my cup of tea is saying it mildly. Again, I accept that it's part of him and am getting used to it. And thus, is why I wasn't too excited about that performance even though I like the song.
I read some fans interpretation of the song when it first came out earlier this year, the simple title "1582" already getting many people asking what its all about. After all this time, we can conclude that the title isn't as simple as the meaning it like to convey nor the performance itself. It is very complex indeed. I requested
nofsummer 's help a few days ago to give me some background coz I already forgot & I want to watch the dvd with open mind.
Then this morning, I found out that the lovely
kvothe232 already made a long post regarding the background and story of the song and the performance. What we think it actually means because the man himself, Kamenashi Kazuya, wasn't really elaborate on explaining it. It was a very good, easy to read & understand entry. And I ask you all to read it before making more harsh judgement and assumption on the performance. Because it truly goes deeper than just the lipstick and ladylike gestures & dance.
Honestly, now that I understand it somewhat, I really am a proud fan. Kame took the chance to be not just different, but giving a brilliant performance. His solo in Break The Records was very theaterical and butai like for a mere concert, but he did it fully, down to the change of costume, gesture, facial expression & intonation. Using every tools available. He didn't have to. I guess because its only a concert I bet his fans will be satisfied if he go and just do another singing and dancing. If I have to make comparison, he's the Matsujun in Arashi. His solo performance is always different and he tries something completely mind blowing, not everyone like it or understand it but I give him my hats off for trying to give himself & the fans something not ordinary. Nino is also different. He convey that through his songs lyrics. Using old language/words and symbols. The difference with Kame, only that Nino perform it simply with a guitar or a piano, which I lOVE more than when he dance, while Kame like to do it all out.
