Soooooo... me and the Honey Cat went to Lombard today to get him checked out. The relief vet was there, and she was really super nice. Got him all checked out, and here are the highlights:
1. He has pretty bad arthritis in his left hip and in some of his spinal vertebrae
2. He probably has feline asthma
3. His little "cat freckles" are papillomas and nothing to worry about. :)
He had an x-ray and he got a depo medrol injection. The steroids should tell us if it's asthma or not and will help with the pain of the hip and back until I figure out a pain management plan with the Dr.s. Dr Scott and I were talking about Metacam vs Cosequin, and I am leaning more towards Cosequin.
So far, tonight, I haven't heard a cough out of him! Or a sneeze... and he did seem to be feeling better and walking around more. Dr Scott said he was a kitty that had an injury long ago, probably when he was a kitten, and he should have had an FHO surgery. I cannot afford that surgery EVER, so... no luck and pain meds for my Honey Cat.
But otherwise, he is doing very good. :)
