Rainfurrest 2008
Friday
Got up at about 1ish, had a shower, finished packing up and felt ALOT like crap. Not enough sleep and really really sick. Go to the car rental place, get all of that sorted. We got a Chevy Aveo. Peice of shit rebadged daewoo, but still. We went to Fred Meyers for some food stuff, got some Jamba and hit the road. We stopped at my Great Aunt's place and visited with them and Nana and made plans to come back on the way back to have dinner and visit for longer. We stopped in Bonney Lake on the way out of town for a sandwich and Lauran needed to do some stuff at the office supply store. Finally, we made it to the con hotel and I was just beat to shit. We got into the room and I collapsed in a heap for about an hour, while Lauran moved in all of our stuff. I took a hot shower and unpacked the food and some of my art stuff and was just kinda quiet. Finally heading down to the pool area to visit. Hung out with Boing and his girlfreind, met Samwise, ran into Turbine and Azure and had a kinda nice night. Hit the hay early and passed out real hard.
Saturday
Got up early and worked a little on some art, got everything for the dealers hall and headed down a bit early to get set up and checked in. We were sitting near some pretty awesome people. I worked and worked all day, taking commissions and trying to get them done. After dealer's hall closed, we went to dinner with Boing, Leia, Darkk and his wife and this other person who I didn't know. We went to Red Robin. Had HORRIBLE service and bad food. I ended up getting a moderate case of food poisoning. Came back to the hotel and I stayed close to home. Just working and being near the restroom. Lauran decided to try the art jam room, but I didn't want to be far from the potty and I wasn't feeling social at all. I tried to go to bed at 3, but I couldn't sleep. I didn't try to call Lauran back until 430. I didn't really sleep anyway, until about 6am or so.
Sunday
We got up at 800am and we got up and did some more work and then left to go to the dealer's hall for "breakfast". I was pretty much useless, so I waited for people to come by and pick up the commissions that I had finished and sat around chatting with people and being dead on my feet. I got a few more commissions, made some freinds, sold some originals and was useless. I did get to chat with Farelle and Jen Anderson. I commissioned a badge from Jen Anderson and commissioned a sketchbook from Farelle. Also got to meet and apologise to Wicked Sairah, which was nice to meet her finally. We left and went back to my family's house for home made fried chicken, gravy, potatos and green beans. And then drove home.
In closing....
Great con. Made good money! We will do this again next year... and be better prepared!
