I want to go home!

Alright I'm gonna whine so go ahead and skip this if you want to.

So I'm pretty sure everybody, on my flist at least, knows I'm a stay at home mom - it's no big secret, it's on my profile. Anyway what most people don't know is that last year, the company that James works for, their fleet manager (I still chuckle over that since he was the ONLY person dealing with fleet) quit. Now technically they don't need someone in the office dealing with fleet so Scott suggested to the GM that I should do it from home. I guess the idea had merit and since then I've been the fleet manager *snort* fleet manager, I manage me, myself and I.

Here's the thing, James' company has satellite offices in three provinces, which generally isn't a problem but they've only amalgamated all the satellite companies two years ago and although, for the most part the office managers have fallen in line, the next biggest company after the head office, GM is a prick and will okay fleet stuff without getting approval from me or my predecessor. So for almost three months I've been trying to get him to either email me, fax or snail mail me copies of the fleet maintenance/upgrades on the vehicles because the numbers and the explanations aren't jiving, so there is something hinky going on. Needless to say he's been a little lax in doing so.

So the next, best option was going down with James when he had to do his week in Calgary.

With me so far? Good because it could get confusing from here...

Technically this trip isn't supposed to be till next week but because we have a wedding to go to the weekend of the 15th, James moved everything up a week - so we wouldn't be coming home to, literally, unpack the dirty clothes and pack the clean and then start driving for another four and a half hours to make it for the wedding.

At first I was a little ticked because loverstar and my big bang posting date is today and because we take the kids (3 & 5), the dog and our 2 cats, we use our travel trailer. Generally this isn't a problem, we don't have to pay extra for the pet fee in a hotel and usually there's a park at the campgrounds we stay at so the kids have something to do. But the RV resort (I use the word resort loosely) that we're staying at wasn't supposed to be set up for me to get internet, apparently they have it in the office but not to the sites, so loverstar was going to be stuck doing everything on her own for big bang. Well as you can see the woman I talked to was mistaken, because I have a wireless connection I can use their internet and yes I told them just in case I was stealing it from someone else here and the woman was "Really? I didn't know that because we have a wireless internet connection that it could be used by our guests." I can't really say much about her lack of computer knowledge when we all know mine kind of sucks, I only learned html because of being a mod at spn_efic or I'd still be blissfully unaware of how to code.

But the reason or reasons I want to go home is/are these:
1 - Apparently the accountant for this office took an extra day off for the August long weekend so when I went into Calgary yesterday, with kids and dog in tow, I didn't know that so I wasted a trip that I had to drive in a torrential downpour on the bloody highway and I frickin' HATE that highway on good days. It was a waste because no one seemed to know her filing system and didn't want to go rooting through her files (which I guess is valid, sort of) and no one knew where the second key for her office was anyway. Again, does this not seem kind of hinky to anyone else or is it just me?

2 - Did I mention the torrential downpour? Oh I did. Did I also mention that apparently it's been raining here since bloody Saturday? No? The ground is so saturated that everywhere is pretty much one big puddle. So me, the kids, the dog and the two cats have been stuck inside a 21-foot travel trailer since we got here Monday afternoon. It is now 7:53am, my time, and it's still raining and it's cold and I want to go HOME!

However, instead I get to drive back into Calgary in just a little over a half hour, with dog and kids in tow, to pick up the fleet file and then come back here and compare what's in the file verses what I've been told the work was for/what it cost and figure out what the hell is going on, while the kids, the dog and the two cats drive me up the wall because I can't let them go outside in the rain. And before you ask, yes I made sure to see if she was supposed to be in today and I will be calling the office to ensure she's there before I drive that bloody highway again.

Will I get to go home tomorrow? Well I could, we brought both vehicles because James has to work full days and didn't want to leave me without a vehicle BUT if I leave without him, the kids will go ballistic so I'm thinking we're not going anywhere until when we originally planned to leave on Saturday morning. And as a bonus? The long term forecast says that the weather isn't going to get any better until Saturday at the earliest. *sigh*

Okay, I'm done. Go back to your regularly scheduled lives citizens, nothing more to see here. :)
