Of Books
Yes. yes, I know, I'm awful about posting, but quite frankly my life is fairly boring. Which is a good thing I'm thinking.
Finally read the Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey (well, except for Kushiel's Mercy, can't seem to find it at the library yet and none of the bookstores carry it either and don't feel like ordering a hardcover online) and was quite amazed at the excellent quality of her writing. It took me so long to start reading it because too many people were using the same terms for her stuff that they were for LKH.
Euch.
I'm a huge fan of Anne Bishop's Dark Jewel trilogy and associated books, as well as all of her other stuff. If you like that, you'll probably like Carey's as well, though Carey gets a bit steamier at times, it's at least somewhat tastefully done.
Picked up the first book by Vicki Petterson, Scent of Shadows. It's an interesting twist on superheroes and a fast paced read. The heroine is very kickass, a touch emo, but has good reason to be. But! She can kick some very serious ass, so that makes up for the emoness. I think she's got 2-3 books after the first, might pick them up soon. Really hope her writing stays consisting excellent. Those of you who still like CoH will probably dig her stuff then.
