So... I’ve been having a crime shows overdose lately and I gotta say, I miss being in the edge of my seat trying to figure out who did it along with the detectives. Sure Veronica Mars has its levels of thrills, especially in the first season, but it was too little, too focus on the personal dramas and that makes the show fall down a little. And that’s actually the main topic of this post. Crime Shows and its dramatic twists. I’m starting with CSI because I learn to enjoy that type of show through it and it will be always part of my history or whatever…
Anyway, I think I watched CSI none stop as an avid fan until the beginning of the sixth season. That’s when the show started to go downhill, mostly, because they started to focus too much on the personal dramas of Catherine and Warrick and Grissom and Sarah. Now, before anyone starts to flame me, I’m not against those couples. I don’t support it, but I’m certainly not against it, I just think that in a crime show there should be glimpse of the characters pasts not fully focus on it.
True the original CSI isn’t as bad as the two others in that part, but it still a big part of it…That’s why the seventh and the eighth seasons sucked so much. especially for those who watched to show for the case instead of watching to see when Sarah and Grissom would kiss or whaever.
It was all about: Grissom loves Sarah and Warrick can't fix his marriage. Dude, get a grip. I love Grissom and I like Warrick too but I’m glad they are gone. About Sarah, well, I always thought she was a b*tch (go head, flame me for that, see if I care.). The ninth season seems to be returning to the original CSI course. Creepy murders, ignoring the personal lives… that sort of thing, just the way I like it. Now throw Greg back at the lab and I’ll be completely happy, especially now with Lawrence Fishburne on board. Man that guy rocks… I’d take the red pill for him…
I’m not even going to mention CSI Miami here; because it’s the worst CSI ever. David Caruso has the worst performance I’ve ever seem, not to mention that those guys don’t work AT all, they are just figuring their personal dramas in the lab.
In CSI NY, I used to loved at first, but then they killed Aiden, and put that lame Lindsey on board (don’t care if you flame again, I hate the b*tch), to make it worst, they threw her in Danny’s bed and now they put a baby on the history… talking about messed up. seriously, it can’t get any worst. Come on! Two adults so aware of science and she gets knocked up? seriously? Blow your brains out and stop ruining the show.
About Flack and Angell, I won’t say a word. First, I don’t know the character, second, I hate that actress, third, I really think it sucks too. But anyway, whatever.
About Without a Trace, now, that’s a show that has space for a lot of drama and stuff like that, but I think they could explore more the conflicts which character goes through in each case instead of making them worry about who is sleeping with who. To tell you the truth, even though I hate Jack and Samantha, they were the ONLY realistic couple there ever was in the show mostly because it didn’t appeared on screen and that my friend, makes my day. Sam and Martin was almost bearable, I got over it, but Elena and Danny? God… what were they thinking?? I liked Elena, she was kinda ok, but the minute Danny started to ogle her instead of doing his sarcastic quips and remarks, it ruined the show. Abrupt change in the characters?? Not how you do it folks. I’m not even going to dignify Martin's drug addiction with a mention. It was simply too absurd.
Next one the list, I got Law and Order, Special Victims Unity. This one I haven’t seen it for long, but I like the way they work the characters here. I’m seeing the first season now along with the ninth and I can see two things that make me incredibly happy: 1) after 10 seasons, the main characters remain all the same. The same temper, the same humor, the same personality. And 2) they barely focus on the personal lives of our beloved detectives. Only when the case hits to close to home.
Law and Order has the same quality of when it started. Maybe is getting even better, I don’t know, it’s hard to judge. They play safe, investing in a winning recipe, and honestly, I think it a much smarter move than make a super hit show that will decay with time.
All I’m saying is the other ones, better run back to its origins before it’s too late. Or maybe just keep it up with what you’re doing: making shippers that the public want just to grab the audience, that’s a greeeeeeat move. ¬¬
Ok… I’m done bitching….
