Title: 106. Punch (The Boy Next Door Series)

Summary: It wasn’t one of those stupid, girly slaps you’d usually see. It was a closed fist, powerful punch. Something Arthur would sure be proud of, since he was the one to teach Merlin how to throw a proper punch. Unfortunately for Sophia, it meant a bloody nose.

Merlin stands in the ladies’ room, staring at herself in the mirror, willing herself not to cry, even though it felt like a hole had just been carved in her chest. She drawing long, shaky breaths when Sophia walks in, followed by her minors. The blonde girl has a victorious smirk on.
“I heard you and Arthur broke up. Again.” She announces in a false sad tone. “Must be an odd number day, then.”
“Leave me alone, Sophia.” Merlin speaks slowly through clench teeth, feeling something boiling deep inside her chest.
“Don’t feel bad, Merlin. Everyone knew you two couldn’t possibly work.” The blonde’s voice is disdainful and full of venom. “I mean… look at Arthur and look at you.”
Maybe it was something in Sophia’s tone or maybe it was because she had just voiced one of Merlin’s biggest issues, but next thing she knows, her left hand is hitting the blonde squarely on the face, sending the shorter girl to the ground.

The rest of the girls watch wide eyed as Sophia moans in pain and thick, red blood trickles down her face. No one makes a mention to help her stand up. Merlin sighs in annoyance. She shouldn’t be the one to assist the blonde, but apparently, she had no other choice.
Grabbing a handful of paper towels, she crouches at Sophia’s side. “Press this against your nose and tilt your head up.”
The blonde stares at her for a second, shocked and angry, but does what she’s told anyway. Merlin nods and helps her up, guiding her through the halls and towards the infirmary.
God, when her mother hears about this (and she certainly would, because Sophia won’t let this go quietly), Merlin will be as good as dead. Greeeeeeat.
