84. Messing up Destiny
Merlin can’t really concentrate on the movie, the thought of finding Lancelot and more importantly, the thought that the man remembers too keep swirling through her mind.
She wants to go back to the store and question the man. She needs to understand. Lancelot isn’t magical as far as Merlin knows and the dragon said… But then again, the dragon has lied to her before… but why would he lie to her now? God, things were so complicated right now.
“Who is he?” Will’s question makes Merlin jump in surprise.
“What?” She asks confused.
“Don’t play dumb with me Merlin, I know you too well. Who’s that guy? The one in the record store?”
Merlin chews on her lower lip, glancing at Will. The boy is staring at her, all serious and focused.
“He’s someone I know from a long time ago.”
“Does Arthur know about him?”
Merlin gapes at Will, surprised. It’s the first time Will says Arthur’s name without sounding mocking or teasing.
“Not exactly.”
“Look Merlin, I may not like Arthur, but…”
“I’d never hurt Arthur.” Merlin interrupts him, not sure if she should be glad that Will is actually trying to defend her boyfriend, or offended because he thought he had to. “Don’t worry. It’s not like that with Lancelot. Not at all. I love Arthur and Lance loves G…” She cuts off abruptly, because really, she couldn’t.
“Gwen?” Will completes with a frown. “I didn’t know Gwen was seeing someone.”
Nice one, Merlin. Give all the spoilers! She chides herself mentally, trying to figure out a way to fix that mess.
“Well, she’s not…” Merlin starts carefully. “But I know that she would really make a good pair with Lance and…” She looks at Will’s disbelieving face and sighs frustrated.
“You’re terrible liar, Merlin. So tell me everything.” He demands. “Start with why, all the sudden, the entire Arthurian Legend cast seems to be roaming around town and, while you’re at it, please tell me about your magic as well, because I’ve been waiting for you to tell me for almost 8 years know.”
Merlin stares at Will, shock written all over her face.
“You knew?”
“You’re as subtle as an elephant in a market, Merlin. I just can’t believe you never told me.” He seems slightly hurt. “Does Arthur know?”
“No.”
“Good. At least I’ll have that one over him.” Will grins smugly. “Now come on, tell me everything already.”
“Alright.” Merlin sighs. If there’s one person who would send Merlin to a mental hospital the second she finished her story, that’s Will. “I’ll tell you everything.”
